The LEARNING CENTER

The SeniorNet Learning Center is equipped with nine computers,  an ink-jet printer, a multi-function scanner/copier/printer, and a flatbed scanner. All of these devices are interconnected on a Local Area Network. This network allows file and printer sharing among computers; it also allows shared high-speed Internet access via Road Runner.

Students are assigned to  individual computers, and Instructors and Coaches are able to observe and assist at every station.

Each of the nine computers -- purchased and installed in July 2003 -- is a Dell Dimension 2350 Series machine with:

  -- Pentium 4 processor (2.20 GHz clock)
  -- 19-inch flat-glass CRT monitor
  -- 512 MBytes memory
  -- 40 GBytes hard drive
  -- 48X CD-ROM drive
  -- 48X CD-RW/DVD combo drive
  -- Sound system
  -- Optical mouse
  -- 56 Kbps data/fax modem
  -- Windows XP Home Edition
